Fallen Angel
Quietly she watches the stars Shimmering in the night, Until one by one They disappear before the coming light. She hears the wind Whispering from the trees, Pleading so softly Come dance with me. She yearns to feel the wind Gently caress her face, To catch a falling snowflake Fragile as angel’s lace. Her halo glows so brightly In the early golden light, Her wings softly shimmer As she prepares for her final flight. Fallen angel, Fell from heaven’s grace, Left behind the golden streets Just to feel the wind upon her face. Fallen angel, Fell without a sound, Never again to see heaven Now forever earth bound. She dances with the wind Among the towering trees, Her long golden hair Tossing in the teasing breeze. The sound of her laughter Carried by the wind, Rises to heaven’s pearly gates Again and again. But at times she watches the stars, Longing for the comfort of their light, Knowing what she’s lost, Up in heaven’s night. But new hopes and dreams Will someday replace, Dreams that were left behind, Dreams that belong to another place. Fallen angel, Fell from heaven’s grace, Left behind the golden streets Just to feel the wind upon her face.
