Heaven’s Light
The angels came to guide him On a warm summer day, For it was his time to go Though, at first, he begged to stay. With a look of sorrow They gently closed his eyes, As they whispered A soft regretful sigh. They dried his tears With their gowns of white, With the rustling of their wings They prepared for flight. There are no tears Up in heaven’s light, And man shall have no fears During the quiet, black night. He looked around in wonder At the countless angels in white, He tried to number the stars That filled the endless night. He rides the celestial winds Among the star filled night, Laughing with the angels Aglow with a heavenly light. Heaven is now his home And that’s where he wants to be, Singing with the angels Laughing through eternity.
