Man’s Best Friend
A dog’s cry Shatters the quiet of the peaceful night, As his shiny badge reflects The flashing red lights.
As a puppy He once ran the rugged hills, His sparkling gentle eyes Aglow with the gold of daffodils.
He met his partner On a day warmed by the summer sun, Their hearts beat quickly Soon rhythmically, as one,
Through warm summer days And cold winter nights, They walked their lonely beat Led by God’s light.
The dog’s eyes dim With eternal sleep, As he hears the echoing cries, Of men as they weep.
